Business Need

Merthyr Learning Quarter is a new college building with a total build cost of £33 million. When the building was completed, the designs were expected to transform education in the Heads of the Valleys region and support the regeneration agenda for Methyr to form part of the 21st Century Schools programme.

Our Role

Our role was off plan and we were able to assist with suppling and installing several automatic door systems to suit the different environments. An automatic single telescopic door was just one entrance on this project we completed, with our clients specifying the telescopic option to achieve the largest possible passage width. An elevation of acoustic glazing and automatic bi-part sliding doors spanning over 8.5metres and over 3metres high was also installed in another area followed by numerous automatic aluminium glazed swing door packages. This was a significant and important project for the local area and our highly qualified installation teams completed the whole project ahead of time.

The Outcome

All expectations were achieved when the building was completed and opened, it is significantly bigger than the old building and has embraced cutting edge technology. Designed to improve learning prospects for young people in Merthyr Tydfil and Blaenau Gwent, we are proud to have been part of the outcome.
